SONYA
BACK
I drove from Florida to Watertown, NY (about 35 miles south of the Canadian Border) in August of 1990 and met with Audrey Benbow of Sirhan Borzoi of Ontario, Canada to meet her and take home my foundation bitch, Sonya.  Bonnie Lapham of Steppenwolf Borzoi came with me on the trip when I stopped off in Glens Falls, NY.  Sonya also came to the United States with her brother Argos. He was headed for Laika Borzoi in Orlando.
I stayed with Bonnie Lapham and her family for 4 more days after picking them up before I headed back to Florida. I was very pleased with Sonya and she was a social butterfly. Laika Borzoi on the other hand was not happy with Argos. She accused me of keeping him crated for days on end (5) and that was her rationalization for his condition. He was crated during my travels of course, but, when we were at Bonnie's he ran in the dog yard with Sonya. I was given $90 for gas for my efforts to obtain Argos for Laika Borzoi even though I drove roundtrip over 2600 miles. And I fed and cared for Argos for about 6 days.  After a couple of years, Laika Borzoi wrote a scathing letter to Audrey Benbow the breeder, on her dissatisfaction with her dog Argos. Despite her disappointment with the dog, she allowed him to be used at stud by another breeder. She was so dissatisfied with the dog she studded him out and took a puppy back. Huh??????????????????????
Sonya was injured as a puppy and was not shown beyond winning a point under judge Kathleen Andrews.  However, Sonya was bred from by me and produced some exceptional get. Sonya was my foundation bitch and she was a very lovely lady and very intelligent. I am so thrilled to have had Sonya.
