At Russian Borzoi located in Florida for the moment, the emphasis is on breeding quality not quantity & breeding to the Borzoi Standard. My Borzoi are asthetically pleasing to the eye, typey, correct, functional & sound. My pups are home raised as integral family members. Showing & coursing are not the only interests, however, my life revolves around the dogs. Many of my Borzoi reside in loving companion homes. | Richard was my ideal Borzoi. My first Borzoi did well going to the Top 10, winning a Hound Group 1, siring 5 AKC Champions & 1 FCH. We were both novices. When my line of Borzoi win, they win on their own merits, not because of politics. My Borzoi are sound, functional & asthetically pleasing to the eye, & typey! I breed to the standard! I pay attention to the details of the breed like breeding correct fronts, rears, toplines (paramount to correct soundness), feet (not a finer point), ears, tailset. Ears, eyes & feet have been considered immemorial as the hallmark of a well-bred Borzoi! Some of the finer points of the breed are virtually ignored by some (ears, heads) |
